It was founded in 2005. It is a group of young people who were in university together who were all from Dezam, and they decided to work together for the development of their community. From 2005-2009, they organized trainings and seminaries for local organizations and teachers. In 2009, with the participation of the Mayor of Meri Vèrèt, ODD (Organization for the Development of Desarmes), PDID (Integrated Development Project of Desarmes), and other local leaders, they re-opened Ecole Profesionnel de Desarmes (the Professional School of Desarmes), which had been closed since 2007.
Since then GASA has been reorienting the courses available in the school. It has added an environmental management option, agricultural production, electricity, auto-mechanic, civil engineering, management, and accounting. The school serves people in Lyankou, Tirivyè, Lachapèl and other communities in the area. It was then that GASA began developing other activities which were connected with the training in the school. Currently they are expanding the school, constructing an agricultural store and a center for agro-industrial transformation, and adding on an animal farm and an experimental garden over 5 acres of land.
